It Happened To Me 15 By Pastor Idowu Iluyomade

The month of August has been declared by the Lord as the month that we will all sing a new song. This is good news that is so exhilarating, as it means no more lamentations or grumbling and no more singing of dirges or old songs. I welcome you into a new season and a new dawn of success, promotion, wholeness and fulfilment of dreams. Hallelujah!

This is a month of a New Song and from what God has been teaching us we know that even though some bad things are happening we will not be partakers or suffer any loss. This is a good way for God to usher us into the Month of New Song because when people around us are singing songs of sadness or calamity, our song will be different in Jesus name (Job 22:29, Isaiah 60:2). God says it doesn’t matter what is going on in our countries, cities, streets, families; our story will be different in Jesus Mighty Name.

In our studies of Psalm 91:7, we learnt that calamities may be happening around us but God singles us out to protect us. We saw cases of near misses where people escaped death by the whiskers. The Bible says a thousand may A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you but verse 8 says “ONLY with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.”

When you observe events happening around the world, especially if you like to watch the news channels, you will most likely hear news of calamities, evil, disasters, etc. However, if there is calamity everywhere, it is not for Christians. The Psalmists declared in Psalm 121 that “…THE LORD SHALL PRESERVE THEE FROM ALL EVIL…” All evil means that it doesn’t matter how strange or mysterious the situations present themselves, the LORD will preserve us. Looking at Psalm 91:7, there are four lessons to be learnt.

A time of Help From Above is a defining time in the life of a wo/man. This is when God reaches out to help, especially when it is clear that no one else can. A time of Help From Above is also a time that God decides to help you when you have done all you can and you are not getting the results you desire. When the God of creation decides to help you, you need to be excited because God is not a man. If a man wants to help you, he would help you within the capacity of what he can do for you.
