We have established that righteous acts are done in obedience to the commandments of God. Mathew 25:31-46 tells us about some righteous acts, and the separation between those that did righteous acts and those that did not - indeed this is the standard for the judgement in Heaven as stated by Christ.

It is amazing that the simplicity of faith leads us into the awesomeness of God. Both in the Old and New Testament, anytime we doubt the awesomeness of God's power to do as He likes, we trigger God's anger. Divine Encounters are basic to our spiritual journey. You need a Divine Encounter to have courage and boldness. Everybody needs a Divine Encounter to be able to trust God, stand up to pressure, and weather through the storm. Divine Encounter is not exclusive to people, it is a part and parcel of our daily walk with God. It is a walk of faith, and that is why in John 14:21, Jesus said "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."

A covenant can be defined as an agreement between two parties in which both are obligated to keep the terms of the covenant, but this definition falls far short of the meaning of covenant in reference to God. Psalm 50:5 says “Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.”Jeremiah 34:17-22 explains the sacrifice God is referring to in that Scripture.

Good works are works of righteousness in obedience to the Word of God. James said faith without works is dead (James 2:14-18); this shows that having good works is so important in our Christian walk. When God wrote letters to the seven (7) churches in Revelation 2-3 there was one constant phrase that He used; He said “I know thy works.” This means that God sees and knows all our works – both the wicked and the righteous works. Psalm 139:11 -12 says “If I say, surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee;”

In 2 Samuel 6, God laid it on the heart of David to take the Ark of Covenant back to Jerusalem. While returning the Ark of Covenant, Uzzah tried to steady the ark, God struck him and he died. David was afraid and the Ark was kept in the house of Obed – Edom for 3 months.

One of the challenges of a life of faith is to differentiate between your personal effort and what God does on your behalf. This sense of individual capability sometimes excludes us from the favour of God. From Scripture, we learn that God favours people - we have encounter of favour ourselves, and we also witness favour in the lives of many other people. As believers, we don't invoke God's favour as often as we should.

The God of Heaven; the One Who began the beginning, the One Who Exodus 3:14 calls the "I AM THAT I AM"; the One Who spoke light into existence (Genesis 1:3), the One Who has the verdict of life, the One Who has all powers says "Remember ye not the old things..." There might have been failures in your past, things that you found difficult to do, or there might have been pain and sorrows; however, God is saying that you should not remember these things. Why? Because, He said "I will do a New Thing." God is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19, Titus 1:2). If God says He will do a new thing, there are three things that you must consider. They are: Preparation, Picturization and Procedure/Process.

We have had many studies on Psalm 91 in various dimensions, but in recent times, we have looked at the reward of the wicked and have established that a reward is something that is given in return for a service rendered or an act done. For example, the Bible says the wages of sin is death. Surely, there is a reward for wicked acts. The question is: “are there also wages for righteous deeds?

From our previous lessons, we learnt that God assures the righteous that evil may occur all around them, but it will not touch them. Indeed, the wicked will fall all around you, but the evil will not touch you. All you shall see is the wicked receiving their reward (Proverbs 17:13, Proverbs 11:8). God is angry with the wicked every day (Psalm 7:11); many sorrows shall be to the wicked (Psalm 32:10). The wicked are candidates for God’s anger and many sorrows, and they can never receive God’s favour unless they repent.
