Excerpts of Pastor Idowu Iluyomade's Sermon on Sunday, February 10, 2019

Bible Text: Isaiah 43:18-19 (NLT)

God has told us that in 2019, we will experience His glory in every area of our lives. God is not man to lie, if He says a thing, He will do it. We believe that God will satisfy us early so that we can experience His blessings early enough and rejoice throughout the year. Isaiah 43:18-19 says God is set to do something new and He is asking you "Don't you see it?" Once God declares a thing it is already done; this is the nature of God (Psalm 33:9, Matthew 6:8). God anticipates your needs and prepares for it just like you anticipate the needs of your children. Nothing can catch Him unawares. This is why He confidently says in Isaiah 65:24 “Before you call I will answer.” He knows your requests even before you open your mouth to ask Him. He knows you want to get married, and as soon as you marry, He knows you want the fruit of the womb. Indeed, God sets these things in motion. Luke 1:33 says, And of His kingdom, there will be no end!” So, everything God created, He put a seed in it so that there can be generational blessings (Genesis 1:11&12). Before Adam sinned, God had made provision for redemption of man. Christ the Lamb of God was slain from the foundations of the earth (Revelation 13:8). This is why it was impossible to stop Jesus Christ from getting to the Cross. God is not only Alpha, He is also Omega; the beginning and the end. He knows everything and is in charge and control of everything. He can declare the end result from the beginning. This is why He confidently says in Isaiah 3:10, "Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be with him."

We should not have a problem in believing that God will do new things because we know He has the ability. We are alive today because God's mercies upon our lives is renewed every morning. However, from Isaiah 43:19, we can deduce that the problem is not with the ability of God to do the new things He promised, but our ability to recognize the new. We know that once God begins a thing, He will finish it, He does not have abandoned projects (Philippians 1:6). God Who knows the end from the beginning and is encouraging you to prepare for the new thing He has started doing (see Isaiah 54:1-3). Once God has started, then we know it is too late for the enemy to stop it, He will surely finish it.

Opportunities Are All Around Us

The raw materials for the new thing God have started doing in your life is all around you. Stop murmuring, God has already made provision. Indeed, your destiny helper is close to you. My prayer is that God will open the eyes of your understanding to see the opportunities around you in Jesus name. Most people can’t see the opportunities around them because these opportunities are not obvious. You need to look and think deeply to discern opportunities. In 2 Kings 4:1-2, the widow of one of the sons of the prophets didn't know that the insignificant little oil she had left in her home would lead to her breakthrough and pay off all her debts. All the widow saw at that stage of her life were problems, death, poverty, lack, starvation, failure, and loss, but Prophet Elisha being a spiritual man saw things differently. He saw a seed already planted by God when she was still complaining and looking for help all over the place. The Prophet saw provision, prosperity, deliverance in that little oil she had to sustain her all her life. This teaches that what you need to excel is already in your hands, you need to perceive it, and unlock it. God can use it to move you from barrenness to fruitfulness; sickness to perfect health; chronic singleness to married; unemployment to employment. Those raw materials may look insignificant but you should not ignore it. God is saying don't say you have nothing, because He has made provision for the new things He promised to do.

Potentials are Within Us

Furthermore, God has given every one natural abilities. A natural skill or ability is what you love to do with ease even if you are not paid for it. God has given you a natural talent or ability, you might not have discovered it yet, but it is within you (Matthew 25:14-20,1 John 2:27, 2 Corinthians 4:7, Ephesians 3:20).  Indeed, God has deposited in you all that you need to live a godly life (2 Peter 1:3). That ability God has deposited in you is a seed or potential, and if you utilise it, it will multiply and become something great. A potential is a hidden ability or talent that is untapped, dormant and has not been used, which can lead to future success when realised.

God created everything with a seed, and once you discover that seed; nurture it, activate it, cultivate it, then it will bring you profit (Deuteronomy 1:11, Isaiah 61:7). If you don't do anything with the seed then it remains a seed forever. The mustard seed for example is a very tiny seed, yet when cultivated can become a mighty tree. However, if it is not sown, it will remain a tiny seed forever. Many people are experiencing lack and are complaining just because they don't recognise the seed and potential God has placed in them. The natural ability God has placed in you is meant to add value to you, to bless you and to increase you. Some people have natural abilities in relating with people, networking, humour, singing, baking, writing, or home tutoring. While for some, it is sports, good oratory, teaching, interior design, etc. My prayer is that your gift will make room for you in Jesus mighty name!

Meditate on these:

What opportunities are around you that you can tap into?

They may show up as problems for which you can proffer solutions

What are your natural skills?

How are you using these skills?

In conclusion, it is the Holy Spirit that shines God's light into your life, quickens you and helps you recognize the opportunities around you and discover the potentials you have. Without the Holy Spirit, you will not be able to recognize the new things God has started, but you cannot have the Holy Spirit without surrendering your life to Jesus Christ. If you are not born again and you are willing to repent and surrender your life to Jesus Christ, then pray this prayer right now: "LORD Jesus, I come to You right now. I know I am a sinner, please forgive me my sins. I plead the Blood of Jesus to wash me clean of all my sins. With my mouth, I confess that Jesus is LORD, and I believe that God raised Him from the dead. From today, I accept You as the LORD of my life. Please change my heart from a disobedient heart to a heart that obeys you, fill me with the Holy Spirit, write my name in the Book of life, and make me brand new in Jesus Mighty Name."
