[A message by PASTOR IDOWU ILUYOMADE at Digging for Gold Service on Tuesday, January 29, 2019]

Reference Scriptures:

JOHN 3:1 – "There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews."

PSALM 91: 10-13 - "There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet."

Dealing with Foundational Problems

Sometimes in our lives, our enemies are too strong for us or we require immediate divine intervention causing God to deploy instant angelic assistance. Also, we need the help of angels in our lives because the root cause of most problems is not physical but spiritual (Ephesians 6:12). To get total victory, you must look beyond the physical problem and address the spirit behind it. Until you deal with the root cause of a problem, it would keep occurring like a habit, sickness or challenge. In 2 Kings 2:21-22, the prophet went to the spring of River Jordan, being the fountain (the root cause) of the problem, poured the salt, and the waters were healed permanently till this day. Thus, if you need permanent answers, you need to deal with foundations. To deal with the root cause of anything, you need to go to the One that existed before the beginning, who is older than the challenge and knows the beginning of the problem. He must have the power and wherewithal to deal with the problem from the root. When you have issues, God knows the root cause; He is the Ancient of Days, the Author and Finisher who can deal with the foundational and recurring problems. He created all things, and He is before all things (Colossians 1: 16-17). God is the head of all principalities, and powers (Colossians 2:10).

Angels are mentioned throughout the Bible, the Old Testament had about 33% mentions and even in our dispensation, the New Testament has about 67% mentions. Angels are spirit beings used by God to deal with spiritual problems that have physical manifestations or symptoms. Psalm 104:4 says God makes His angel's spirits. They are spirit beings in the presence of God and take directives from the throne room. Angels are ministering spirits, and God's messengers and they excel in strength (Hebrews 1:14, Psalm 103:20, 2 Peter 2:11). One angel killed One Hundred and Eighty-Five Thousand Assyrians (2 Kings 19:35).  There are many angels, enough for everyone (see Revelation 5:11, Daniel 7:10).  In Revelation 20:1-3 an angel chained satan, cast him into the bottomless pit, shut him up, and set a seal upon him. God knows the solution to your problems, and He can deal with it by sending help from man or by angelic assistance.

An angel can appear as a man. Hebrews 13:2 says, "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." Abraham entertained men not knowing they were angels. Two angels appeared to Lot at the gate of Sodom, and he accommodated them (see Genesis 18:1-8). Just be nice to people for you never know.

Finally, God opened the eyes of Jacob in Bethel and he saw angels going up and coming down. In our dispensation, we have heard true stories of people that encountered angels. We have heard how angels assisted people in various circumstances. However, angelic assistance is readily available to those on the Lord’s side. Angels are God’s messengers set to assist those who are heirs of salvation. They are holy beings and cannot tolerate sin. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." If you accept His invitation, the blood of Jesus, the only antidote for sin will wash you clean and give you a fresh start. If you are not born again and you are willing to repent and surrender your life to Jesus Christ, then pray this prayer right now: "LORD Jesus, I come to You right now. I know I am a sinner, please forgive me my sins. I plead the Blood of Jesus to wash me clean of all my sins. With my mouth, I confess that Jesus is LORD, and I believe that God raised Him from the dead. From today, I accept You as the LORD of my life. Please change my heart from a disobedient heart to a heart that obeys you, fill me with the Holy Spirit, write my name in the Book of life, and make me brand new in Jesus Mighty Name."
