Excerpts of Pastor Idowu Iluyomade's Sermon at the March Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, March 4, 2018
Over the weeks, we have been studying our theme for the year - Fulfilling Purpose in Destiny. We established the importance of knowing your own purpose and aligning your goals, aspirations, life purpose with God's plan for your life. Jeremiah 1:5 and Psalm 139:6 tell us that before you were born, God had written in His Book your life purpose. We also established that it is so important for you to know the reason God sent you to this world. Hence, once there is an alignment between your goals and aspirations, and God's plan for your life, you will fulfill purpose in line with your God given destiny.
In addition, our sermon series - The Great Discovery, has thrown light on the need for a direct or God-orchestrated divine encounter as a pointer to your life purpose. God reveals life's purposes to people through dreams, visions, divine visitations, audible voice, wise counsel, scriptures, sermons, prophecies or the Holy Spirit. However, when referring to prophecies, you need to be cautious as there are familiar spirits that peep and mutter (Isaiah 8:19).
There is a journey between when you were born, when you discover your purpose and the fulfillment of that purpose in line with your destiny. Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us that there is a time for everything under the earth. You are not in this world forever; you cannot live forever, life is brief and as such it is imperative to discover and fulfil purpose while you still can because we shall all give an account to God of our stewardship. There is a pathway to the fulfillment of purpose in destiny. Once you discover that pathway, there will be hills and valleys, but our God is the God of the hills and the valleys (I Kings 20:28) and He will lead you to your destination in Jesus Mighty Name.
Most people don't wait for the timing, leading or prompting of God, they just pursue their goals and vision. God is no respecter of persons, if He has revealed people's life purpose to them, He can do the same for you. Moses thought he was supposed to be a deliverer and he acted before God's prompting. His actions caused him 40 years of delay. When you don't listen to God or wait for His promptings, you might experience chronic delay.
To get from point A to point B in God's plan for your life, you need to connect the dots. God uses people, relationships and connections to take you from one level of your life to another. God wants to connect the dots of your life so He can cut short your waiting period, struggles and fruitless efforts. Some people can never fulfill purpose unless they meet the person that God as assigned to help them in their lives. My prayer is that you will meet whoever God has been sent to help you get to that place of your dreams and goals according to God's purpose for your life. This is your month of Divine Connection. That which God has planned for you shall happen quickly and sooner than you think in Jesus mighty name.
To connect means to join, to link, to fasten together, to unite, to bind, to attach, etc. Connection, it is a relationship in which a person or thing is linked or associated with something else. Connection can also be referred to as a chain that bonds people together. Some connections are unholy alliances that end up with unpalatable consequences. For example, Samson and Delilah. 1 Corinthians 15:33 [AMP] says "Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”" Also, Rehoboam, the son of Solomon was wrongly advised by his friends, and the kingdom of His father was split. In 1 Kings 11:1-4, God warned Solomon not to marry strange women because they would take his heart away from God. Solomon did not heed the advice, he married 700 wives and had 300 concubines. They all took his heart away from God and God was not happy with him.
As a result of unholy alliances, many people have derailed from the faith with their destinies truncated. The same God that separated Abraham from Lot, Jonah from those in the ship that was sinking, that same God will separate you from any unholy alliances in Jesus mighty name.
However, our focus for this month is divine connection. Our God sits in Heaven and the earth is His footstool (Isaiah 66:1). He is thereby connected to the earth and rules in the affairs of men (Daniel 4:17). He kills and makes alive, He makes poor and makes rich, He brings low and lifts up (I Samuel 2:6-7). God is the Original Connector that will connect you to the person that will take you to the next level of your life. This same God can rearrange destinies. His name is Jesus, He can find His way through the maze of life. He can make a way where there seems to be no way. Hence, if the door is shut against you, when the DOOR Himself arrives (John 10:9), every limiting door will have to bow so that you can break through.
In 1 Samuel 29, David had an unholy alliance with the Philistines, the enemies of Israel who did not trust him and later rejected his offer to fight against Israel. By the time David returned to his town, Ziklag, the whole town had been burnt down by the Amalakites (1 Samuel 30:1). David realized his mistake and reconnected himself to God while the others were weeping. The Bible says David encouraged himself in the LORD (1 Samuel 30:6-8). Once you reconnect with God, God has a way of connecting dots of your life and bringing people your way (1 Samuel 30:11-). As God reconnects you today, everything that has been stolen from you will be restored a thousand-fold in Jesus mighty name.
Once you are connected to God, He will connect other people to you in order to fulfill your God-given destiny. Romans 8:31-32 says that "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" If you are connected to Jesus, what is that mountain or situation standing before you? It will be level ground if you are connected to Jesus, sickness or poverty cannot overwhelm you. Jesus says draw near to me and I will draw near to you. John 15:5 says "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." Amos 3:3 says "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" You need to ensure you are connected to the Original Connector. There is no mountain before you that He cannot bring down, there is no door shut before you that He cannot open.
However, sin separates you from the Original Connector. The only way help can come in your hour of need is if you are connected to Jesus. Ephesians 2:11-14 [AMP] says "Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)— remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility." If you are living in sin, surrender your life to Jesus Christ and accept Him as your personal LORD and Saviour. If you are willing to repent of your sins and surrender your life to Jesus Christ, then pray this prayer right now: LORD Jesus, I come to You right now, I know I am a sinner, please forgive my sins. With my mouth, I confess that Jesus, from today, I accept You as the LORD of my life, reconnect my life to yours. I plead the Blood of Jesus to cleanse me of every sin I have committed, write my name in the Book of Life, and make me brand new in Jesus Mighty Name.
