Power with God and Power with Men - 2

Excerpts of Dr. Okey Onuzo's message at the Sunshine Service on Sunday, February 18, 2018

Bible Text: Deuteronomy 4:32-40 (KJV)

The reality that the power of God has really transformed the land of Nigeria cannot emerge except there is a group of wo/men thirsting and desiring for it. When you read our reference text, you can say that God is faithful to His Word, and we see a truth of this in Psalm 2:8. The Bible says when God arises, He does need to fight wars. When He arises in His awesome power, He does not need armies. This was what Moses was referring to when he talked of how God delivered a nation from another without fighting any war. God has His ways, and you may not see or know how God works. Pharaoh had the largest army during his time but God had a plan to deliver the children of Israel without any form of war. Apostle Paul was the greatest enemy of the gospel during his time and in one stroke, he became the world's greatest evangelist. This tells you that God knows what to do. There must be a generation of men and women who will declare that God is the only God and whatever He says is final.

How can a man make God arise in a situation? It is through prayer. Don't forget that prayer is not telling God what you want to hear, prayer is telling God what He wants to hear, so that He can do what He wants to do. Therefore, there must be a people who can push aside their lusts and selfish desires, and tell God they want to see His glory manifest in their time. The problem with the Church is that they do not believe the Bible they read; because what is written in it is reproducible. Moses was telling the Israelites that if they wanted to believe God, they should look at His workings in the Scriptures. This is where you must begin to find out if Exodus is fact or fiction. The beauty of Exodus is that all the time, God knew what to do.

Furthermore, a lot of people have a reputation that they are Christians but they are actually unbelievers; they don't believe anything in the Bible, they just go to Church. This kind of lifestyle cannot draw the power of God and there is no real hunger to see the God of glory. When you study the Scriptures, you will understand how following God works and that there is a sense for which God is only neutral for righteousness, holiness, and His will. Hence, whoever wants to follow God will shift ground. Following God is about shifting - when you shift a little and find out you are not where God is, you have to keep shifting to get to where He is. The sad thing is some people get tired of shifting to where God is. Heaven will know that such person is not ready to walk with God, as such person is coming to God on his or her own terms. Everyone comes to God on God's terms, if anyone tells you otherwise, they are deceiving you. Those who will thirst to see God manifest Himself in His power and glory (in Nigeria with the present circumstances), must be serious about it, even in their day to day activities. When people are serious minded, they begin to make changes on their own before the Holy Spirit takes over. If God does not come down and take over a situation, the alternative is disastrous. When the power of God comes down, the difference will be clear, and the power of God has to come down because that is the only solution. God has His awesome ways, His power is final in the universe; and He is waiting for you to ask Him to arise and take charge of the situation in our present time. The Church's greatest task in the time of crisis is to produce righteous men and women. If you have no thirst or vision for a solution that is orchestrated by divine presence and power, you will have no hunger for the move of God.

The tragedy of life is that the things you really care about are the things you will leave behind, and you are not really passionate about are the things that will follow you to Heaven. Moses is challenging you by showing you God in His awesome glory. He is also challenging you to arise, take God by His Word and pay the price. If you have no hunger in your heart for God to reveal His awesome power like He did in Exodus, then this is the time to have the hunger. There is no limit to God in terms of seasons and generations. Be a man or woman who speaks for God everywhere you go. You can't have a calling that stands for nothing. Pray that the Holy Spirit will give you a thirst to see the power and glory of God manifest in Nigeria.

So that your life and prayers will count, you need to set your life in order, live a life away from sin, and when God purges you, you become a vessel unto honour. If you want your life to count before God, then pray this prayer right now: Oh LORD, my God, I ask You to please forgive me all my sins, please wash me with the Blood of Jesus. I believe with all my heart that Jesus died for my sins and was raised from the dead to give me a new life. Oh LORD my God, I repent of all my sins; by Your grace, I will not go back to them again. LORD Jesus, come into my heart, rule over my life, be my LORD, and be my Saviour. Thank You for saving me, I am a born-again child now, glory be to God, in Jesus name I pray.
