Great Discovery 3

A message by Pastor Idowu Iluyomade on Sunday, February 11, 2018

Bible Text: 2 Timothy 4:7 [AMP]

In our previous studies, we have defined "Purpose" as goals or plans towards which your efforts are directed. We have also defined "Destiny" as the eternal or ultimate plan of God for your life (which is written down in His book). Destiny is also the customized plan for you according to God's programme (Psalm 139:16 [NLT]). Nothing happens by accident; everything happening to you now or that will happen to you has already been scripted in God's book before you were born. The thoughts and plans of God concerning you are good (Jeremiah 29:11). My prayer is that you will fulfill purpose in line with God's plan for your life in Jesus Name.

Through the story of Esther and the rich fool (Luke 12:20-21), we discovered that it is important to fulfil God's ultimate plan and purpose for your life. For you to fulfil destiny, there must be an alignment between your current pursuits and God's ultimate plan for your life. Your life must be profitable to God and must bring glory, honour and adoration to God so that your efforts in life will not be a waste. Esther almost missed it, but for the timely intervention of her uncle, Mordecai who God used to re-align her purpose with her destiny. However, the unprofitable servant in Matthew 25:30 and the rich fool in Luke 12:20-21 had their priorities misplaced and eventually lost their lives because they were not rich towards God and their selfish lives did not profit God. It is important for you to know the plan and purpose of God for your life and fulfil it.

In 2 Timothy 4:7 Apostle Paul said " I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course (race), I have kept the faith" Also, Hebrews 12:1 reminds us of the need to run the race set before us by God. God has an appointed course or race for everyone. Apostle Paul finished the course mapped out for him by God. In this context, course means a route to be taken, a path, a track, or a direction. Since every race course has a finishing line, I prophesy into your life that you will finish your course well and finish strong as Apostle Paul in Jesus Mighty Name. Also, Jesus Christ at the age of 12 knew the ultimate plan and purpose of God for His life and was on the right track (Luke 2:49). He knew the course that would take Him to the ultimate destiny written concerning Him by God.

The Right Path

Proverbs 16:25 [NLT] says "There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death." This implies that there might be a track, path or route that looks okay but the end of it is death. There are people who are on the wrong track or course, whilst also running other people's races and they are not sure what is written in God's Book concerning them. This is confirmed by Jesus in Matthew 7:13-14 (NIV) which says many people are on the broad way on their way to hell whilst just a few are following the narrow path that leads to Heaven. It is important for you to be on the right track and ensure that your life is profitable to God, so that you can bring honour and glory to Him. Discovering the right track for your life is important so that there is no regret at the end of your journey of life. Some are on the track and are tired, as they don't know where to go; others are sitting on the track, while some are off track. My prayer is that if you are in any of these categories, there will be a realignment today in Jesus Mighty Name.

From Scriptures, we see that discovering the right track for your life starts with having a divine encounter with God. Most people who discovered their destiny in Scriptures had a divine encounter with God. A divine encounter with God does not have to be dramatic but it must be orchestrated by God. Are you on the right track for your life or are you living a wasted life?

In addition, the destiny of Joseph was linked with the Butler. There is someone you need to meet or something you need to do. There are some children that need to be born, there is a task that needs to be done. Once you discover your purpose in life, doors will be open unto you, God will give you a new song to sing and fill your mouth with laughter. There might be challenges along the way to your fulfilling purpose in destiny, but you will overcome in Jesus Name (Romans 8:28).

Are you worried? Are you on the right track for your life? Do you want to live a fulfilled life? Give Jesus Christ a chance to show you the way because He is the Way. He will lead you aright and you will discover His purpose for your life. Are you living in sin or have you backslid? Note that sin truncates destiny. Surrender your life to Jesus Christ and be on the right track for your life. If you are willing to repent of your sins, surrender your life to Jesus Christ and let Him lead to your eternal purpose, then pray this prayer right now: LORD Jesus, I come to You right now. I know I am a sinner, please forgive me my sins. With my mouth, I confess that Jesus today, I accept You as the LORD of my life. Help me, forgive my sins, write my name in the Book of Life, show me the right path for my life, and make me brand new in Jesus Mighty Name I pray.
