Bible Text: Luke 12:16-21

“To Everything There is a Season”

As declared by the LORD, 2018 is the year of ‘Fulfilment of Purpose in Destiny.’ Because of what God want to do in your life, He sent this Word of direction that you must strive to fulfil purpose in line with your God-given destiny, which should be your priority. There is an urgency in this word because the Bible says these are the last days. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." This scripture reveals to you that fulfilling purpose is time-bound. Jesus Christ said that the night cometh when no man can work. This tells you that your life is like the hourglass, and you don't know how far gone you are. My prayer is that before you are translated, you should fulfil purpose in line with your destiny in Jesus Mighty Name. It was said of David in 1 Chronicles 29:28 that he died in a good old age full of riches and honour. May you fulfil purpose and may your life count in Jesus Mighty Name!

Purpose is the goal and plan towards which your efforts are directed - your pursuit. Purpose is active in the NOW. Destiny is futuristic and it is the end to which you are appointed. It is what is written in God's programme concerning you that you must achieve. What is God's perfect plan for your life? His big picture and the end or ultimate purpose to which you were born or apprehended, it is what is in the heart of God concerning you before creation. What is in the heart of God concerning you? Thus, destiny can be described as the customized or bespoke life-calling that God has ordained for you. God showed Joseph the big picture of his exceeding greatness when he was very young; even though he went through tough times, Joseph still fulfilled his destiny. May you fulfil destiny in Jesus Mighty Name!

Align Your Goals with God's Purpose

To fulfil your God-given destiny, there must be a handshake/alignment between your goals/plans towards which all your efforts are directed and God's eternal purpose for you. What are you directing your efforts, time and talent towards? It must align with God's eternal purpose - the big picture for your life. It is important that there is an alignment (when you use your talents and resources as God wants you to) else, on the day of accountability you will not get the "Well done” from God (Matthew 25:21), instead, you may be told "…. cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth" (Matthew 25:30). May this not happen to us in Jesus Mighty Name!

The Eternal Purpose

From the story of the rich man in our reference text, we see that he lost focus. He laid up treasures for himself and was not rich towards God. To fulfil purpose in line with your God-given destiny, your life must be profitable to God. The ultimate purpose of fulfilling destiny is for God's Name to be glorified. God does not share His glory with any man and 1 Corinthians 10:31 says "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." Why did God bless you or give you that talent? It is because there is an assignment that He wants you to do as seen in the story of Esther who God used to deliver the Jews from being exterminated. Ensure that you use your talent, position, beauty and wisdom to glorify God (Psalm 150:6).

Once there is a handshake (an alignment) between your goals, purpose, plans towards which you exert all your efforts and the ultimate plan of God for your life, then you will enjoy open heavens; your life will count here on earth and in eternity.

“Above all, it is so important for you to fulfil purpose in destiny within the time frame God has given you.”

The Journey to Fulfilling Purpose

God has a great plan for you and you may be on the way to it, but you need to know that sin truncates the plan and eternal purpose of God (1 Samuel 2:30-36). If you are living in sin, everything might appear rosy to you now, but it will not be so in the long run. Prosperity is not always a sign that you are fulfilling purpose in destiny. If you repent and confess your sins to God, He is willing to realign your life. The journey to fulfilling purpose starts with surrendering your life to Jesus Christ. He will help you so that your life can be profitable to God. If you are willing to repent of your sins, surrender your life to Jesus Christ and know your eternal purpose, then pray this prayer right now: LORD Jesus, I come to You right now. I know I am a sinner, please forgive me my sins. With my mouth, I confess that Jesus, I accept You as the LORD of my life. Change my heart from a heart of stone, give me a heart of flesh. Help me to obey You; fill me with Your Holy Spirit, write my name in the Book of life, reveal Your purpose unto me, restore my purpose unto me, and make my joy full in Jesus Mighty Name I pray.
