The Annual Christmas Carol Concert was held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in the Sanctuary. The Theme of this year’s Concert was “Christmas News,” and it captured the culture and news of Christmas in different cultures around the world. It was a night of fun, laughter that filled the audience with cheer. There were presentations from Voices in Zion and the Apostles, Junior Church’s Choir, Teen Church, Onome, past God’s Children Great Talent winner, Medilag Choir, amongst others.
In his short exhortation, Pastor Tola Odutola said after Jesus had being with his disciples for three and half years and was about to end his ministry on earth, the disciples were somewhat depressed, because they were used to leaning on Him for their provisions, and the first thing He said to them was “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” Even though we are in a Christmas period, the hearts of many are troubled. Many in our nation today have lost their source of income, and some do not know where their next meal will come from. One thing Jesus says is “Do not let your heart be troubled,” which means there’s enough in you not to allow your hearts to be troubled. Jesus went further to say in His Father’s house there are many mansions and He goes to prepare a place for you (John 14:1-4).
He added that in recent times we prepare for marriages, burials, house warming, etc. but are we prepared for His coming back. He warned that our God is a God of preparation and we must add some preparation to our prayers and fasting for His second coming (Proverbs 21:31). It is good to celebrate Christmas but don’t get lost in the celebrations, because the LORD is coming back for those that are prepared to meet Him.
Afterwards, there was a beautiful fireworks display and lots of food to eat and drink.
