WHAT IS TRUTH? 17
[A message by PASTOR IDOWU ILUYOMADE at the Digging for Gold Service on Tuesday, November 29, 2016]
JOHN 3:1 - “There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.”
PSALM 91:4 - “He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”
JOHN 18:33-38 - “…Pilate saith unto Jesus, what is truth…?”
Malachi 3:10-12 says “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts” There are blessings and curses that follow both the obedience and the disobedience of paying of tithes and offerings. Once you obey, automatically the blessings follow and overtake you, and if you disobey, curses automatically follow and overtake you. Thus, the same yardstick God uses for curses is the same for blessings.
PROVE ME NOW
Malachi 3:10-12 says “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, AND PROVE ME NOW HEREWITH, SAITH THE LORD OF HOSTS, IF I WILL NOT OPEN YOU THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN, AND POUR YOU OUT A BLESSING, THAT THERE SHALL NOT BE ROOM ENOUGH TO RECEIVE IT.” If you meet a destitute on the road and he says he will give you a Mercedes S-Class, will you believe him? Not likely because you can see that he is needy and poor. For most people that visit herbalists or prayer merchants, looking at their surroundings, you can see poverty; they always dwell in dingy places. When these herbalists or prayer merchants ask their visitor/customer to bring a sacrifice, it is either a cloth, a goat, or things that they would use or eat. Luke 16:8 says “…For the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.” If truly these herbalists and prayer merchants are powerful, where are the signs? The Bible says by their fruits we shall know them. A lot of people who go to church visit these herbalists or prayer merchants to seek help. If they cannot improve their own lives, how can they improve yours? I pray that you will stay with Christ and stop running around in Jesus name. However, when God says “PROVE ME NOW,” it means try ME, put ME to test and see if I will not do what I said I would do. All you need is in Christ Jesus; His Name is the Name above every other name, and there is no other name given unto man under the Heaven through which your salvation or deliverance can come (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the One that died, suffered, and paid the price for our sins. Also, it is possible to see prophets that look good, have nice cars and yet are fake, deriving their powers from the devil. The Bible says in 2nd Corinthians 11:14-15 that “no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” Matthew 23:27 says fake prophets are “…Like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.” Many of these people are parasites, they continue to suck you and collect things from you.
In addition, there are those that deplete your resources and never add anything positive to your life. Moreover, giving or sowing precedes harvest (Genesis 8:22). Luke 6:38 says “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” In Scriptures, who could have thought that the widow of Zarephath had something to give; she was very poor and wretched but she still gave her widow’s mite which in the eyes of God was much. So even if you consider yourself poor, there is always something you can give. The Bible says that it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35b).
When the LORD says “PROVE ME NOW,” He is asking you to challenge Him. For God to say “PROVE ME NOW,” that means He is so confident because He has resources. He says just give your tithes and offering, challenge ME and see if I will not be true to My Word concerning you. God is the One who promotes, heals, delivers, prospers, gives children and spouses, etc. As a child of God, there is nothing that you want that God cannot give you.
EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE IN SCRIPTURES THAT CHALLENGED GOD
The first example is Moses’ conversation with God when he was leading the children of Israel in the wilderness. Numbers 11:21-23 says “And Moses said, the people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month. Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them? And the LORD said unto Moses, is the LORD'S hand waxed short? Thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.” To tackle the situation, God just sent a wind that picked up all the birds from the sea and made them to fall by the camp in heaps about 3 ft. all around the camp. The children of Israel had so much chicken to eat for a month that it was coming out of their nostrils. Today, you may be wondering, how can it still happen or in what manner will it God take to answer you? God says “You shall not see wind nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink, both you and your cattle” (2 Kings 3:17). God always wins battles, there is nothing that is impossible for Him. He has all the resources, so what is it that you are believing God for? He says test Me.
Another example is the encounter between Pharaoh and God. Moses went to Pharaoh and told him God says “let my people go that they may serve Me,”. Pharaoh answered, “who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go” (Exodus 5:2). By the time God showed just a bit of Himself in Exodus 12:30-32, the Bible says “Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said. Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also.” Anyone that is challenging your God, God will show Himself strong and mighty on your behalf, and any situation that poses a challenge to the promises of God in your life, that situation will bow today in Jesus name.
NOW IS THE TIME
However, before you can PROVE HIM NOW, you must agree to pay your tithes as prescribed and offerings in accordance to the proportion of God's blessings in your life. There is a designated time and appointed time - when there is an alignment between what God wants to do, the timing of Heaven and your request. When these two occur, a miracle happens which materializes those things you have been believing God for. 2 Corinthians 6:2 says “For He says, “IN THE ACCEPTABLE TIME (the time of grace) I LISTENED TO YOU, AND I HELPED YOU ON THE DAY OF SALVATION.” Behold, now is “THE ACCEPTABLE TIME,” behold, now is “THE DAY OF SALVATION” [AMP] and “I heard your call in the nick of time; the day you needed me, I was there to help. Well, now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped” [MSG]. Sarah had been believing God for a miracle for Twenty-Four (24) years, but in Genesis 18:10-14, there was an alignment between the purposes of Heaven and her request. God showed up and told Sarah by this time next year, whether you believe it or not, whether you laugh or not, there is an alignment; now is the time that I will answer you. All the waiting of Twenty-Four (24) years ended and their miracle child came to be (Genesis 21:1). There is a now time and there is an appointed time.
The operation of the now time can also be seen in the lives of Zachariah and Cornelius in Luke 1:13 and Acts 10:31 respectively; where God said “your prayer IS heard.” This suggests that even though they had been praying, but the prayer that they prayed on the day of their divine visitation was the prayer that unlocked their miracles. Hence, God did not say that their prayers ‘has been heard’, but that their prayers IS heard.
Finally, now is the acceptable time of salvation. Isaiah 55:6 says “Seek ye the LORD while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near.” A time will come that you will call on the LORD, but it would be too late. You can checkmate the plans of the enemy by surrendering your life to Jesus Christ. If you are willing to repent and surrender your life to Jesus Christ, then pray this prayer right now: LORD Jesus, I come to You right now. I know I am a sinner, please forgive me of my sins. With my mouth, I confess that Jesus, from today be the LORD of my life. Change my heart from a disobedient heart to a heart that obeys You. With my new heart, I believe that it is because of me that You came into this world; You died for my sins, You took away my sins, take away my problems also. Write my name in the Book of Life, fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and make me brand new in Jesus Mighty Name.
